AIR: The Cayman Islands national airline is Cayman Airways (KX). Cayman Airways flies to Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac from Miami, Tampa, Orlando, Houston and Kingston (Jamaica). British Airways operates three scheduled flights per week on Monday and Wednesday from London Gatwick to Grand Cayman. Air Jamaica flies to the Cayman Islands from Kingston and Montego Bay. Airlines operating from mainland USA to Grand Cayman include American Airlines, American Trans-Air, Delta Airlines, US Airways and Northwest Airlines.

Approximate flight times: From London to Grand Cayman is 9 hours 55 minutes and from Miami to Grand Cayman is 1 hour 5 minutes. From Miami to Cayman Brac is 1 hour and 35 minutes.

International airports: Grand Cayman (GCM) (Owen Roberts International Airport) is 2.5km (1.5 miles) east of the city.

Cayman Brac (CYB) (Gerard Smith Airport) is 8km (5 miles) from the town. Taxis meet all flights (travel time – 10 minutes). Airport facilities in Grand Cayman include an outgoing duty-free shop for all international departures, car hire and a bar/restaurant (open for all arrivals and departures).

Departure tax: CI$10 or US$12.50 payable by all travellers over 12 years of age.

SEA: Grand Cayman is one of the most popular Caribbean ports and a busy port of call for leading international cruise lines operating from North America, Mexico and Europe. The Cayman Islands are legally supposed to limit the number of cruise passengers to 6000 (three to four ships) per day. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are the busiest days in port. There is no cruise ship dock and passengers are ferried ashore by tenders to the North or South dock terminals in George Town.




Note: There is NO ferry service to Cayman Brac.

Inter Island air service to Cayman Brac is available from Island Air
or from Cayman Airways 1-800-GCAYMAN. Cayman Airways also flies direct from Miami.

A new service from Ft. Lauderdale with Lynx Air started May 11, 2000 1-888-LYNXAIR.
