The "Mimi" is the only place we would return to.We have been to the Cancun area twice before, we would choose the Mimi again and plan to do so in the next coming year. It was fabulous, thank you.

PRICING AT THE HOTEL RESTAURANT WAS EXCESSIVE...POOL SEEMS TO BE AN AFTERTHOUGHT EVEN THOUGH IT WAS WELL MAINTAINED

We were very happy with the Mimi del Mar Hotel. But... if you are someone who has affluent needs this may not suit you. The entrance to the front desk (no Lobby) is off of the beach, which does make getting your luggage on and off site a bit cumbersome, but once we were in and comfy, we forgot that until it was time to check out. At check out, the staff helped us carry our luggage to solid ground. I was so pleasantly surprised with our $80.00 a night beach front hotel that I would def. go again. I am afraid to brag too much, because then the secret it out and the prices might go up!
I did hear that they were going to replace all the lounge chairs on the beach (they do need to do that) and put in a plank, entrance for easier luggage rolling.
We were very content.

We have stayed here before and much hasn't changed except the price and the free puified water.

We had a problem at check out when they were not charging us enough for the room. It took me awhile to make them understand their problem.

I stayed 5 nights in 2 different rooms at Mimi del Mar Hotel and it was an excellent value. This is a beach front property where all room have a partial view of the ocean. It’s great to wake up and walk only a few step to sit back in a long chair and enjoy the beach. The pool is more of a decoration as it is very small and narrowed. A man offers a massage service on a table next to the beach most morning.
The first morning I had breakfast at the hotel bar/restaurant right on the beach for 6.50$. I had a fresh orange juice, 3 toasts with jam, beans with an omelette (a bit uncooked) and a black tea that tasted bad but overall this meal was a good value. I still don’t understand why I did not get the breakfast included when I paid the list price that said it was. Is it because I have booked through worldlinks.com?
The Hotel is very well located a few steps from all the action of Playa Del Carmen and fifth Avenue but it’s not too close to the clubbing area so when you come back at night it is quite enough to easily fall asleep. But don’t expect sound proof rooms. You can hear people talking and walking in the corridor and slamming their room door that don’t close easily. One evening there was a live band playing outdoor nearby and I could not do my usual siesta.
It was also very close from a diving company on 4th street and a beach activity rental place called “Wahoo” that is directly on the beach. This last place charged me 20$ to rent a Kayak for 2 hours and would not let me rent it for 1 hour at 10$. I did not appreciate that.
I had a very small TV install very high up close to the ceiling in the room and it was hard on the neck after 30 min of TV watching but it was better than not having any. I had a phone and a safe as well as a small fridge that was very convenient to keep water and fruits fresh and cold. I also used the kitchenette but it was not working too well. The pot and pan left for use are old and I also could not get boiling water and the stove was not powerful enough. I asked for a hairdryer at the front desk because they don’t offer one in the room.
The rooms are clean enough. It is not a modern or recent construction and it doesn’t offer have any luxuries but it was satisfying at 100$ a night (high season). The walls and the ceiling are stucco and the floor artisanal a bit uneven ceramic. If you arrive at night some of the bright white neon lighting is not flattering for the room. The queen size bed in room 101 was more comfortable than the king in room 103 that was very hard.
If I go back to Playa on a budget I will try to book this hotel for sure and I will recommend it to my friends.

The room was clean but nobody managed to remove the carcass of a dead cockroach from the stairs for 3 days (not something that bothered me but would bother some people). Front desk staff mediocre especially compared to Playa Maya. Otherwise, it was a decent enough place. You should provide information on parking in your web site.

The MiMi is right in the heart of Playa - so you always feel like part of the heart beat of the town. This was our second time staying at the MiMi and the next time we head back, this is where we will go. It feels comfortable.

FEEDBACK TO TRANSMIT TO HOTEL :
- EITHER LET GUESTS KNOW they will need a 100$ in cash deposit for the safelock in the room or need to be more flexible when guests do not have them. We did not have them and asked to pay by card (copy of the card), the employee did that but refused to write an amount in the paper (we don't know why but we can't take the risk that someone would write a huge amount, they require $100, so they should simply write $100 in the transaction paper !). We had to spend 20 minutes and call the manager so that they would write the exact amount (100$).
=>> BE MORE FLEXIBLE WHEN GUESTS CAN'T EXACTLY MEET THE REQUIREMENTS (in this case we did not have the 100$ in cash and that was a huge problem)
IMPROVEMENTS THEY COULD MADE
have the concierge to be more informed about the activities/restaurants to help tourists !
They would be very helpful to tourists, make an additionnal profit by booking tours through them ! They should inform tourists we can book through them (what we discovered after having asked 20 minutes !). They should display : book your tours through here, have a list of 3-4 good restaurants to recommand (cheap-middle-high price), or know about the different activities to do during the day...
->we asked about a good restaurant at 19:00 in the evening, the concierge had no idea and only gave us a free drink in a bar...
->we asked about a tour for Chichen Itza but they could not really help, we spent 30 minutes trying to speak with the concierge
This would make this hotel really a better place, only the concierge service and information desk needs strong improvement.

Mimi del Mar pretty much satisfied our needs. A couple of things though: The bed was very hard and uncomfortable. There was absolutly no light for reading, even after removing the shell over the bulb. Also, the dude at the front desk did'nt understand english and there was a message in our box we never would have recieved if I had'nt noticed it in the slot. We loved the beach bar and the service was great. All in all it was a pleasant experience and I would go back to Playa del Carmen but maybe stay somewhere else.
